客路青山外，行舟绿水前.
潮平两岸阔，风正一帆悬.
海日生残夜，江春入旧年。
乡书何处达?归雁洛阳边.

这首五律最早见于唐朝芮挺章编选的《国秀集》。这是诗人在一年冬末春初时，由楚入吴，沿江东下，一路行来，当舟次北固山下的时候，潮平岸阔，残夜归雁，触发了心中的情思，吟成了这一千古名篇。
