decades from now, when I return home to write this, it's time to talk about my adventures on the way back. ever since i left for a trip to gold star yesterday, i've been thinking about this journey and my family once more.

first, the memories of living in a big city and feeling like a newbie in a new place have never gone away. when i finally stepped off the plane, i felt like i'd just stepped onto another world. that's so much different from what i knew before.

as i landed at my home, i smiled and greeted the earth with such excitement. for the first time since i left gold star, everything seemed normal again. i even got to crawl through the gates of my house and climb a slide into a small bathroom. it felt like something had changed that i hadn't noticed all day.

the next morning, i woke up feeling super tired but also super happy. as soon as i went to bed, i fell asleep on my bed, which was made from the remnants of my father's solar-powered bed frame. in the morning, i got up and read a book about nature. it wasn't just one book, though—i had 84 books, all of them about the earth, our planet.

when i sat down to write this, i thought, "why not just let my friends help me with their own adventures and share something fun?" my dad said that was a wonderful idea because it would bring everyone together.

after writing some words, i moved on to the next part of my journey. today is another day where we return home after 85 years! as i looked out at my house, i couldn't help but think about how different this life had become. even though i was still in a city, now that i'm back home, it felt like something big had happened.

i spent the next two hours trying to figure out how everything was changing, and after almost an hour of staring at the sky, i thought, "wait—I thought i'd be back three months ago!"

when i finally got on my plane, i was so worried that i might not make it home before midnight. but i swear it wasn't something real. i mean, i could see those cities moving faster and faster, with their trees swaying and the clouds floating by in such a way that felt like they were dancing.

as i got on my plane, i was thinking about my friends when I saw them waiting for me. it felt like they were waiting for me to make it home before midnight. they were all looking at the sky with wide eyes. one of them even said, "are you going to come back soon?" i thought, "no, not soon."

i knew that wasn't true anymore—my friends would be right here watching us go to sleep, and then we'd finally make it home in just three hours. for the first time since i left gold star, everything felt so normal again. i even got a little piece of paper from my father—a solar-powered calculator—that i had been using all day.

when i turned to my dad, he said, "don't worry about this." but i knew that wasn't true—he was really just trying to figure out how to make everything work as it did before. in the end, i thought, "no matter what, we'll make it home tonight."

back at my house, i sat down and started writing a journal for myself. every day from now on, i would write about the things that happened during the night—where i slept, where I stayed up to, and how everything changed since then.

i thought, "this is so different from what i've always been used to." but as time went by, i realized that even though i was still in a city, the life i was living had completely changed. everything seemed normal again—like it did all day long.

that's why i thought of writing this journal for myself and my friends—it would be like giving them a message of hope once more. they knew that no matter how things looked, we'd make it home tomorrow. even though we weren't here yet, the journey was still worth keeping alive.
